Petco Park

San Diego has one of the most picturesque ballparks in MLB. It’s not just the view that makes Petco unique, though.

The building’s facade reflects a jagged postmodernism that draws inspiration from the Southwest. Its exterior features rough blocks of sandstone with a rich ochre earth tonality.

The stadium also features a unique multi-story brick building constructed in 1909. It now houses the Padres team store and the Hall of Fame. See our home page.

Petco Park is home to some of San Diego’s best local food. You’ll find tacos and burgers at the ballpark and plenty of craft beers, including the signature Purple Haze cocktail.

You can also try a clam chowder bread bowl from Anthony’s Fish Grotto or an authentic slice of Filippi’s pizza. The Mercado food court on the first-base side of the main concourse and the left-field concourse next to and inside the Western Metal Supply Building are good places to start.

For the burger lover, check out Hodad’s, made famous by Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The cheeseburger features a puffy bun layered with cheddar, shredded iceberg, and dill pickles. There’s also a location of Gaglione Brothers, the renowned cheesesteak spot.

Food

Petco Park is home to some of the best food and drinks in MLB. The stadium offers a wide variety of food options, including an outpost of Hodad’s burger restaurant (made famous by Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives) and a foot-long bacon-wrapped hot dog that puts other ballpark dogs to shame.

Another favorite is Puesto, which serves tacos and burritos with handmade organic blue corn tortillas. Try the queso birria taco or the chicken burrito and pair it with a Cadillac margarita made with Casa Noble tequila, Grand Marnier, lime, and organic agave nectar.

A visit to the ballpark wouldn’t be complete without a sweet treat from Sambazon Acai. The San Diego-based company offers a variety of healthy bowls and smoothies, such as the chocolate peanut butter bowl, berry bowl, and protein bowl. Visit another area in town here.

Drinks

You can find plenty of parking options near Petco Park. Some lots are designated for handicapped parking. You can also use public transportation to get to the game. There are three MTS trolley lines — Blue, Orange, and Green – that provide service to the stadium. The North County Transit District also operates the Coaster train from Oceanside, with stops in Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Old Town.

In addition to the usual ballpark classics, Petco Park features a few new menu items this year. The park’s food options include an elote special and a smoked choripan sausage sandwich. You can also chow down on Hodad’s famous bacon cheeseburgers. And don’t forget to try the infamous Cardiff Crack, which is a tender tri-tip from Seaside Market served on top of nachos with Diego queso, Fresno chile slices, and sour cream.

All guests entering Petco Park must go through security screening. Walk-through metal detectors will be in place, and all bags and purses are subject to search upon entrance. An alternate method of screening will be available for guests with strollers or wheelchairs and those whose medical devices set off metal detectors.

Small purses, clutches, small drawstring bags, plastic reusable grocery bags, and fanny packs are permitted, provided they are single-compartment and do not exceed 7 inches by 10 inches in size. In addition, any banners brought into the stadium cannot be commercial, political, or obscene in nature and cannot obstruct seatbacks or protective railings. Check Out This Info.
